Have you ever received a contact list in Excel format and didn't know how to get it onto your phone?
This tutorial walks you through the entire process, from spreadsheet preparation to having contacts on your phone, step by step.
Step 1: Organize Excel data
Recommended approach: Download the template from the homepage and fill in your data according to the template format.
The template already has columns set up: Name, Phone, Phone 2, Email, Company, Title, Address, Note, Photo URL.
Manual preparation tips:
- First column: Name (required).
- Second column: Phone number (required), just enter the numbers.
- Other columns are optional.
- Make sure the phone column is formatted as text to avoid scientific notation.
- Use UTF-8 encoding to avoid garbled characters.
Step 2: Upload and convert
On the homepage, click "Select File", choose your xlsx file, and click "Start Conversion".
In a few seconds, the conversion will be complete and you'll see the download link and QR code.
For CSV/TXT files: After uploading, you'll be redirected to the column mapping page where you need to specify which column corresponds to each vCard field.
After mapping, click "Confirm Mapping & Convert" to get the vcf file.
Step 3: Transfer the vcf file to your phone
Several options available:
Option 1: Scan QR code (recommended)
After conversion, scan the QR code with your phone's camera or messaging app, open the link in a browser, and download directly to your phone.
Option 2: Send via messaging app
Download the vcf file on your computer and send it to your phone via a messaging app.
Note: When opening a vcf file in a messaging app, tap the top-right menu and select "Open with other app" → "Contacts".
Option 3: Send via email
Attach the vcf file to an email and open it from your phone's email client.
Option 4: USB cable transfer
Connect your phone to the computer via USB and copy the vcf file to the phone's Downloads folder.
Step 4: Import to phone contacts
Android phone:
1. Open "Files", go to the Downloads folder.
2. Tap the vcf file; the system will show the import option.
3. Select to save to phone storage or Google account.
4. Confirm and wait for completion.
iPhone:
1. Download the vcf file in Safari, or open it from email.
2. Tap the vcf file; the system will show "Add All Contacts".
3. Confirm and wait for import to complete.
Import to iPhone via iCloud:
1. On a computer, visit iCloud Contacts.
2. Click the gear icon in the bottom-left corner → "Import vCard".
3. Select the vcf file to upload.
4. iCloud will automatically sync to your iPhone.
FAQ
Q: Phone number prefix disappears after import?
A: This is caused by Excel's auto-formatting. See our tutorial to fix it.
Q: Can hundreds of contacts be processed at once?
A: Yes. The file upload limit is 500KB, enough for about seven thousand numbers. For larger datasets, process in batches.
Q: Some contacts appear duplicated after import?
A: Android has a "Merge duplicate contacts" feature; on iPhone, you can manually "Link Contacts" in the Contacts app.
