Android 2026: Latest vCard Contact Import Guide

2026.05.28»»Latest Android vCard Contact Import Tutorial for 2026

Updated May 2026, applicable to Android 14/15. Steps may vary slightly by phone brand, but the core process is the same.

Step 1: Convert files on this site

Upload your xlsx or csv file on the homepage and download the vcf file after conversion.
You can use your phone's browser to access the site directly, or convert on a computer and transfer to your phone.

Step 2: Find the vcf file on your phone

The vcf file is usually saved in your phone's "Downloads" folder.
You can find it in these ways:
- Open your phone's "Files" or "File Manager" app and go to the "Downloads" directory.
- If downloaded via WhatsApp, find it in the chat history.
- If transferred from a computer, remember where you saved it.

Step 3: Import to contacts

Method 1 (Recommended): Import directly from file manager
1. Open the "Files" app.
2. Go to the Downloads folder and find the downloaded .vcf file.
3. Tap the file; the system will show a prompt to "Import contacts" or "Import from vCard".
4. Select storage location (phone storage or Google account).
5. Confirm import and wait for completion.

Method 2: Import from the Contacts app
1. Open your phone's "Contacts" app.
2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner (three dots or gear icon).
3. Select "Import/Export" → "Import from .vcf file".
4. Browse and select your vcf file.
5. Confirm the import.

Method 3: Google Contacts sync (ideal for multi-device users)
1. On a computer, visit contacts.google.com.
2. Click "Import" on the left side → select the vcf file.
3. Once imported, all Android phones with the same Google account will auto-sync.

FAQ

Q: No import option appears when tapping the vcf file?
A: Some file managers don't recognize vcf by default. Try:
- Use Google Files (Files by Google).
- Use the "Import" function inside the Contacts app.
- Send the file to WhatsApp and open it from there, selecting "Contacts".

Q: Contacts appear garbled after import?
A: Check that the original Excel/CSV file is UTF-8 encoded. If not, re-save as UTF-8 before uploading for conversion.

Q: Duplicate contacts after import?
A: Android's Contacts app usually auto-merges contacts with the same name. If not, use the "Merge duplicate contacts" feature.

Q: Special steps for Huawei/Xiaomi/OPPO/vivo phones?
A: The core process is the same. Some brands may have a contact import feature under "Settings → System → Backup", but that's usually for system restore, not vcf import. We recommend using the file manager method.

By the way, this site supports free export of contacts to Excel, VCF version conversion (vCard 3.0 and 2.1 interconversion), and also supports exporting VCF (vCard), Excel, CSV, TXT to address book formats.

XLSX (Excel) File

XLSX is well-known format for Microsoft Excel documents that was introduced by Microsoft with the release of Microsoft Office 2007. Based on structure organized according to the Open Packaging Conventions as outlined in Part 2 of the OOXML standard ECMA-376, the new format is a zip package that contains a number of XML files. The underlying structure and files can be examined by simply unzipping the .xlsx file.

VCF File

The Variant Call Format (VCF) specifies the format of a text file used in bioinformatics for storing gene sequence variations. The format has been developed with the advent of large-scale genotyping and DNA sequencing projects, such as the 1000 Genomes Project. Existing formats for genetic data such as General feature format (GFF) stored all of the genetic data, much of which is redundant because it will be shared across the genomes. By using the variant call format only the variations need to be stored along with a reference genome.
